The Iraq eVisa previous request in the system error means an earlier application record is still associated with your passport or personal details and may block a new application. This can happen even if payment failed or you never received an application number.

You have three possible routes to resolve the issue: wait for possible automatic clearance, arrange a trusted representative in Iraq, or use eVisa Iraq’s complete application assistance service. The right route depends on the status of the earlier request and your travel date.

Already paid or unsure whether payment succeeded? Contact support before submitting and paying for another application. A paid or pending request should be checked before anyone asks for it to be cleared.

What the previous-request error means

“Beneficiary” means the applicant. The system has found an existing record connected to that person and may prevent another request from proceeding.

The error alone does not confirm payment, visa approval, or rejection. An application reference is not a visa and an unpaid request can still remain registered.

Applicants may describe the same problem as “beneficiary already exists”, “application already exists”, or a duplicate application error. The next step is to establish the status of the earlier request.

Why an earlier Iraq eVisa request may remain registered

Common circumstances reported to our support team include:

  • Payment was declined, interrupted, or not completed.
  • The browser or payment session closed before the process finished.
  • No confirmation email arrived or the application number was lost.
  • A relative, employer, or travel agency started a request using the same passport.
  • An earlier request is still pending or incomplete.

Creating another account, changing your email address, or switching browsers does not necessarily remove a request associated with your passport. Do not change your passport details to get around the error.

Three ways to resolve the previous-request error

Option 1 — Wait for possible automatic clearance

Based on cases encountered by our support team, some incomplete or unpaid requests may clear automatically after approximately 21 days. This is an estimate from support experience, not a guaranteed clearance deadline. It does not establish what will happen to a paid or pending application.

This route may suit applicants whose travel date is not approaching. Once the record has cleared, a new submission may become possible. If the error remains, seek support to check the earlier request.

Option 2 — Arrange assistance through someone in Iraq

A trusted representative in Iraq may visit the relevant Residency Office to request help locating and clearing the previous request. The office may require passport information, identification, or other supporting details.

You can arrange this independently if you have someone able to assist. The relevant office determines the administrative requirements and handles the record.

Option 3 — Apply through eVisa Iraq with previous-request assistance

Our complete application service includes arranging for a representative to physically visit the relevant Residency Office in Iraq when manual clearance is needed. After the existing request is cleared, our team proceeds with the new visa application.

This assistance is included in the applicable application fee with no separate additional previous-request clearance charge. You submit a new application and complete payment through eVisa Iraq before our team begins the service. We do not offer standalone cancellation or retrieval of an old application number.

If your earlier request was paid or is already being processed, contact our team first so we can assess the appropriate next step.

How the in-person Residency Office procedure works

Step 1 — Submit your application and documents

Complete the application on eVisa Iraq, upload the required passport copy, photograph, and supporting information, and review the fee before payment. Tell our support team that you received the previous-request error and provide the screenshot or earlier reference if available.

Your new application is first received by eVisa Iraq’s application service. It is not immediately submitted as another conflicting request to the Ministry’s system.

Step 2 — We review the previous-request issue

Our team reviews your documents and the information about the earlier attempt. You do not need to recover the old application number before requesting this service. We use the available applicant and passport details to coordinate assistance.

Step 3 — Our representative attends the Residency Office

Our representative visits the relevant Residency Office in person to request that the previous record be located and cleared through the applicable procedure. The Residency Office handles the administrative action. Our team coordinates the request and follows up.

You do not need to travel to Iraq personally or appoint another representative when using this service.

Step 4 — We submit the new visa application after clearance

Once the previous request is cleared, our processing team proceeds with the new application. The relevant Iraqi authorities review the request and decide whether to issue the visa.

Step 5 — We email the issued visa

After issuance, we send the visa to the email address provided in your application. Check your personal details, validity, and stay conditions on the document before travelling.

eVisa Iraq is an independent application assistance service. We do not operate the Ministry’s portal, independently edit its database, issue visas, or make immigration decisions. Our role is document review, administrative coordination, submission assistance, and communication.

Processing time includes clearance and visa processing

For applicants eligible for the standard 6–72-hour service, the complete procedure is included within the same 6–72 hours. This includes previous-request clearance, the Residency Office procedure, and subsequent visa processing and delivery.

There is no separate additional clearance period. Do not add 48 hours to the published processing time.

The processing period begins when we have received all three of the following:

  1. Your completed application.
  2. All required documents and information.
  3. Successful payment.

For other supported nationality groups, the processing period displayed during the application applies. The standard Group B period is 8–18 business days. The 72-hour period does not apply to every nationality or visa category.

A processing period is not a guarantee of visa issuance before a particular flight. The authorities retain the decision on issuance and our refund commitment below explains what happens if we do not deliver within the applicable period.

Lost application number, unsuccessful payment, or no confirmation email

If the original application number is missing

Check your inbox and spam folder for the email used during the original attempt. If someone applied for you, ask them for the confirmation and payment record.

You can use our complete application service without recovering the old reference. We arrange the administrative clearance process and then handle a new application. We do not provide standalone recovery of references from another portal.

If payment failed or its status is unclear

Check the bank or card transaction record before trying again. A failed payment page does not by itself prove that no charge occurred. If a payment appears on your statement or the status is uncertain, contact the original provider or our support team before paying for a new application.

We cannot restore a payment session or issue a payment link for a request created directly through the Ministry’s portal. Payments made to another provider remain separate from a new payment to eVisa Iraq.

If you receive an eVisa Iraq confirmation

Our confirmation means your application has been received by our service. It does not mean the visa has already been issued or that the previous request has already been cleared. Our reference may differ from the reference assigned by the Ministry’s system.

For OTP verification issues and other errors, see our Application Problems guide.

Why a new application and payment are required

Previous-request assistance is part of our complete new visa application service. It is not a separate purchase to cancel an old request or obtain an old payment link.

The new application gives our team the information and documents needed to arrange clearance and proceed with a new submission. Payment covers the applicable application costs and assistance included in the service.

The total depends on passport nationality and visa category and is displayed before payment. You can also review the Visa Fees page. No separate clearance fee is added. Where a visa category has a separate arrival requirement, consult the information displayed for that category.

If you paid the original portal or another provider, tell us before proceeding. We cannot refund or transfer a payment collected by another provider.

Full refund if the visa is not delivered within the applicable timeframe

If eVisa Iraq does not deliver your visa within the applicable processing timeframe, you receive a full refund of the amount paid to eVisa Iraq.

For the 6–72-hour category, the period includes both previous-request clearance and visa processing. For other supported categories, the period shown during your application applies.

The refund covers 100% of the payment made to eVisa Iraq, including the service fee. No separate previous-request assistance fee is deducted. This commitment does not cover payments made to another provider or travel expenses.

Contact our support team with your application reference, if available, and payment confirmation if the applicable period has passed without delivery. The Refund and Cancellation Policy explains the refund request process.

A change of travel plans after a visa has been delivered within the applicable timeframe is a different situation and is subject to the cancellation policy.

Frequently asked questions

Does this message mean I already have a visa?

No. It identifies an existing application record, which may be unpaid or incomplete. Only an issued visa confirms approval; an application reference alone does not.

I have never applied. Why is there a previous request?

Someone else may have started a request for you or an earlier attempt may have created a record before you finished. If neither applies, seek help to establish the record’s status rather than guessing or changing your personal details.

Can I submit a new application immediately?

If a previous request is blocking the passport, it must be addressed before another submission can proceed. When applying through eVisa Iraq, your application is received by our service first and the Ministry submission follows clearance.

Is the 21-day waiting period guaranteed?

No. Approximately 21 days is an estimate based on cases our support team has encountered. It is not a guaranteed deadline and should not be treated as a dependable option for imminent travel.

Can you help without my old application number?

Yes. Our complete service can coordinate previous-request clearance using the available applicant and passport information. You do not need to retrieve the original number before starting.

Is cancellation of the old request sold separately?

No. Previous-request assistance is included with a new paid application through eVisa Iraq. We do not offer standalone cancellation, retrieval of the old reference, or restoration of an old payment link.

Do you really visit the Residency Office?

Yes. Where manual clearance is required, our representative physically visits the relevant Residency Office in Iraq. The office handles the administrative action and our team coordinates the procedure.

Do I need someone in Iraq or need to visit myself?

Not when using our complete service. Our representative arranges the required visit. If you prefer to handle the issue independently, you may use your own trusted representative.

Does clearance add another two days?

No. For eligible applicants, the complete service is within the same 6–72-hour processing period. Clearance is included rather than added on top.

What happens if you do not deliver within 72 hours?

For applicants in the 6–72-hour category, our full-refund commitment applies after that period has passed without visa delivery. The refund is the full amount paid to eVisa Iraq. For other categories, use the processing period shown during the application.

Can you promise approval or arrival before my flight?

No. The authorities decide whether to issue a visa and we cannot promise issuance before a particular departure time. Our service commitment includes the refund described above if delivery is not completed within the applicable period.

Can I contact support before paying?

Yes. Contact us first if you have already paid for an earlier request, are unsure about its status, or need help checking the available service for your nationality and travel date.

You can find answers to other visa questions in our Frequently Asked Questions.
